Information needed to complete a lab can be presented in several ways:

  1. on the lab report webpage - concise, lab-specific content can be added by instructors or Chem21Labs content specialists. Key directions and warnings can be emphasized with formatting, and materials such as tables, images, videos, and animations can be embedded.
  2. inside a collapsible section - to reduce clutter, content can be hidden under a More Information link and expanded as needed (e.g., animations or detailed explanations). Click the link below to open an animation showing light transmittance through a colored solution.

    Light Transmittance

In this interactive animation,  red light  (the incident beam) shines on a  green solution . Initially, 100% of the red light is absorbed, so the remaining wavelengths  OYGBIV  are transmitted, making the solution appear  green .
    • Use the "Drag" slider to adjust percent transmittance and observe changes in light intensity.
    • To change the incident light or solution color, select (click) different colors in the upper left.
    • For more details, click the color wheel in the upper right.

  3. under the Reference Material link - located at the top of every Chem21Labs webpage, this link provides tables, a periodic table, and other resources for labs and homework. Its contents vary depending on the course.
